Frequent Conundrums: Sculpture: Tobacco Pipes and Gloves: 2012
FREQUENT CONUNDRUMS were provoked by my fascination with the ways we imagine history through its artifacts; collective memory at odds with subjective experience; and confabulation. The pipes and gloves were unreliable narrators, easily undone. Titles were organic to the process, in that my once-fluent French and a stubborn literal-mindedness had parts to play in generating "figures of speech" and visual puns.
